Bishop T.D. Jakes Responds to Kyle Rittenhouse Trial Verdict

Bishop T.D. Jakes, senior pastor of The Potter’s House, shares commentary following the verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial:

“Yesterday, the Oklahoma governor rightly chose to rescind the execution of #JuliusJones. Today’s decision by the Wisconsin jury in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse catapults us two steps back and sends a troubling message. Vigilantism and the reckless use of firearms have no place in our society. We ought to be able to disagree without harming each other. Our prayers are with the families of the shooting victims. We continue to lift up in prayer Jacob Blake, whose shooting by a police officer triggered the violent events of that night. We remain steadfast in our belief in the need for police reform, including common-sense training tactics that help de-escalate the kind of situations that led to this tragedy. I recognize that many of you are disappointed and even angry. Channel this anger and disappointment into productive endeavors. Use the outcome of this trial as an opportunity to organize and create the kind of peaceful and just society you and your families aspire to live in.”
